1948
· A surprise potluck dinner was held for Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wiley in honor of their 8th wedding anniversary.
· Mrs. Mildred Collins attended funeral rites for Miss Laura Rice at LaHarpe, Ill.
· This week at the Alamo: “The Miracle of the Bells” starring Fred MacMurray and “B.F.’s Daughter” starring Barbara Stanwyck and Van Heflin.
· Monday morning there was a light frost in some places, but not enough to kill vegetation. It was 40 degrees Monday, the coldest since May 3.
1973
· 8 -year old winners in local PP&K contest were Todd Lehman-1st; Robbie Wick-2nd; and Mark Coberley-3rd. 9-year old winners were Craig Clark, Jeff Brown, and Timmy Noel. 10-year old winners were Lon Fulton, Mike Wilson, and Jeff Brown. 11-year old winners were Gary Carter, Todd Winter, and Bryan Lenz.
· John Williams, installer-repairman for Iowa Telephone Co., completed a 10-day course on Station repair. He and his wife, Bonnie, live in New London with their two children.
· John Hollingsworth has made IWC’s varsity football squad for the 1973 season. He is a 1971 NLHS graduate and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hollingsworth.
1998
· The 1998 Homecoming King is Fean Wagner and the Queen is Tristan Curry.
· Obituaries this week: Zachery Harris, Carrie Edgington, and Harry Pearson.
· Good Times Club will meet with Mary Shelledy on October 8.
· New London gets Homecoming victory over Central Lee, 14-8.
2013
· Mahala Jewett and Kyle Oliver are the 2013 Homecoming Queen and King.
· John Siegel inducted into the IHSAA Wrestling Hall of Fame.
· The Class of 1953 and 1958 held their class reunions.
· Homecoming bonfire made out of pallets this year.
