•The Country Club elects new officers: Pres.-Wilbur Flam; VP - William Sater; Sec./Treas.-Ralph Eckey; and Directors-T.J. Newman, Dale Piper, and Jack Harper.
•The Chamber of Commerce voted to give a banquet and provide a speaker/entertainment for the high school athletes later this winter.
•Obituary this week: Mrs. Alice Pennebaker.
•The following students are preparing solos for a spring competition. They are Suzanne Wessel, Ronnie Lee, and Ruth Marshall-Cornet; Elenore Davey, Patty Matheny, Jacque Sue Harper, and Leona Prehm-Clarinet; Genivere Hanks-Flute; Bob Wright-Alto Sax; Janet Edwards-Tenor Sax; Marilyn Corrick-Baritone Sax; George Elliott and Ruby McKee-Trombone; Camille Beatte-Baritone; and Donald Warth-Tuba.
•This week at the Alamo: “The Best Years of Our Lives” starring Fredric March and Myrna Loy and “Black Bart” starring Yvonne De Carlo and Dan Duryea.

•Mr. and Mrs. Mick Lutes are the parents of a son born January 12. They’ve named him Stephen Michael. Mrs. Lutes is the former Darlene Simmons.

•Mr. and Mrs. Don Bell were hosts at a coffee for Rep. Ed Mezvinsky.
•Greg and Barb Bontrager have returned home to Lexington, Ky. after visiting Barb’s mother Helen Bishop and attending Jennifer Bontrager’s wedding.
•Mr. and Mrs. Bob Greulich and Janie, Steve Bell, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Mosbey were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Creelman in Mediapolis.

•The Lady Tigers rolled past Marquette on January 12 by a score of 57 to 29 and again on January 19 by a score of 56 to 42.
•The City Council ordered an engineering study on Jack Wilson Drive in the hopes that they can repave it in the summer.
•The 7th grade boys basketball team is made up of Cody Brotherson, John Davis, Tony Durham, Nick Lerner, Luke Rotter, Bradley Rude, Kyle Sidles, Josh Van Camp, Todd Van Syoc, Jeff Wilhelm, Jeremy Wagner, Bubba Brotherson, Tyler Garrison, and Corey Beckman.
