•Christmas Seal drive ends Jan. 31 and chairman Mrs. Fritz Preuss and Mrs. Forest McAvoy asks that all donations be made before then.
•Mrs. Frank Lundin was honored with a surprise birthday party by Mr. and Mrs. Verne Blanck and Mr. and Mrs. James Collins and Eddie.
•This week at the Alamo: “Meet Frankenstein” starring Abbott and Costello and “River Lady” starring Yvonne DeCarlo.
•One car, driven by Virgil Simmons going north and another going south driven by Frank McKasson collided on the intersection northwest of the high school around one o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Both cars sustained some damage.

•Connie Gittings is engaged to Edward Heuvelmann of Burlington. An August 3 wedding is being planned.
•Mrs. Joe Colton, 76, died suddenly on January 22nd.
•Senior Spotlights: Joe Prottsman, Phil Byrum, and Ron Walker.
•Geode Industries buys glove factory building from Kaul.

•Dr. H. M. Readinger received a service award from his son, Dr. Steve Readinger. He was honored at the Henry County Medical Society for serving the residents of Henry County for 50 years.

•Cleo Pfeiffer observes her 100th birthday on February 1.
•Mark Coberley was named head men’s athletic trainer at Iowa State University.
