1948
•Three new councilmen were elected. They are Maurice Mayberry, Claude Noel, and Dale Piper.
•The Women’s Club donated $10 to the school band for new uniforms.
•This week at the Alamo: “Magic Town” starring Jimmy Stewart and Jane Wyman and “Bad Men of Missouri” starring Dennis Morgan and Jane Wyman.
•After falling out of a moving car, Patty Petzinger has returned to school.
•Diane Harper brought one of her white rabbits to school for a visit.
•Dr. Evan L. Levine and family have arrived from Kansas. He will join Dr. E. J. Lessenger in his practice.
•Petit jurors have been drawn for May. From New London are Ruth Peterson, Gene Rogers, A. E. Warth, and Ella Watson.
1973
•This year’s sports banquet will be April 10 in the school cafeteria. There will be a potluck meal. There will be no outside speaker, and Dr. Paul McPheron will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
•Thursday’s hot lunch will be New England boiled dinner, hot rolls and butter, applesauce, and milk.
•This year’s winner of the DAR Good Citizen award is Tammy Morrow.
•The following people from New London attended the state bowling tournament at Spencer over the weekend: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kinney, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Kannegiesser, Mr. and Mrs. Darold Dotson, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shipley.

•The newest Lion Club members are Bob Magdefrau, Dr. Robert McPheron, and Anna Mae Williams.
•Men involved in this year’s “Living Last Supper” are Eric Dean, Joe Lounsbury, John Stodgell, Jim Coates, Brian Yaley, Don Lounsbury, Jerry Hite, and Paul DeJaynes.
•This week’s Senior Portraits: Missy Coleman, Ben Gates, Robin Lamm, and Jeremy Wick.
•Chris Selby was honored at the recent sports banquet with the “Millie” award. The award is given to the individual who exemplifies the ideals put forth by all-state and hall of famer Mildred Burkhart in their hard work and dedication to the girls basketball program.

•Easter coloring winners were Brady Martin and Reagan Henkelvig.
•Obituaries this week: Marjorie Humphries and Bernard W. O’Connor.
•Doug and Syd Boecker, owners of Boecker Masonry, have bought Sunrise Mobile Home Court.
•Tom and Donna Ritchey have returned home after spending three months in Yuma, AZ.
•Joe Pickle celebrated his 89th birthday.
•Senior Spotlights this week: Madeline Reene Griffin, Arlen Ray Berner, and Chandler Robert Yarber.
•Quiz Bowl participants under the guidance of Ms. Stacy Schroeder and Mr. Arnie Anderson are Karl Totemeier, Autumn Blain, Tess Webbe, Ashlyn Brown, and Samantha Anderson.
