1949
- Mrs. Dave Calloway’s mother passed away in Burlington. She was 75.
- Ritchey’s Hardware store starts their big 3rd Anniversary sale. It will run from today through April 9.
- J.W. Pritchard will succeed Roy W. Wise as superintendent of New London schools for the coming year.
- This week at the Alamo: “Julia Misbehaves” starring Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon and “Western Heritage” starring Tim Holt.
- Mrs. Beryl Kramer was surprised with a party on her birthday. She had three beautifully decorated cakes, and the guests played bingo and guessing games.
1974
- William R. Vaughan M.D., has completed continuing education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
- Mr. and Mrs. Earl Petzinger, who spent the winter in Florida, have returned home.
- April 16 marks the big variety show at the high school. One of the activities is a Roast of “A Famous Educator.” Come see who gets “roasted friar style” by F.M. Hartung, Tim Staley, Bob Sieberts, and Dr. Paul McPheron to name a few.
