George Elliott is chairman of the county’s cancer drive.
Garbage collection started last week, and until further notice J. D. Trout will pickup subscribers’ garbage once a week.
In 11 years, H.J. Nugen Library has loaned books that would make a stack 4.5 miles high.
Dolores Harper spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hill and family in Chicago.
Spring and summer fashions are in at Dameron’s Store
Floyd Shelledy took his father, Sherman Shelledy, to Iowa City for a check-up. Mrs. Shelledy accompanied her husband to S.U.I. hospital. All returned the same evening.
This week at the Alamo: “The Gay Ranchero” starring Roy Rogers and Trigger and “The Adventures of Robin Hood” starring Errol Flynn and Olivia deHavilland.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Winebrenner of Iowa City visited the Robert Wick home on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Petzinger, who spent the winter in Florida, have returned home. They are expecting a visit from Dr. Michael and Patty Werkle and family (their daughter) next weekend.
Andy Rogers, formerly of New London, was promoted to executive vice-president and Chief Operating Officer at Farmer Savings Bank in Mineral Point, Wisconsin.

Richard and Betty Grove announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Jennifer, to Matthew York of Des Moines.
The Short Stop, located on Highway 34, just east of town, was sold at public auction Monday, April 5. New owners are Dave and Deb Kempker of New London.
