1949
- Students having a perfect 4.00 average/first semester: Mary Ann Hanson and Bernita Weigert.
- Students having a perfect 4.00 average/second semester: Donald Warth, Bernita Weigert, Bob Harper, and Ruth Marshall.
- Gary Joy, 6, got his hand caught in the electric pump. The middle finger of his left hand was taken off below the first joint and the third finger was cut. He was rushed to the doctor and is doing nicely.
- In a well-filled auditorium, 28 students received certificates on May 25 for graduating from the 8th grade.
- This week at the Alamo: “Words and Music” starring June Allyson and Judy Garland and “Adventure Island” starring Rory Calhoun and Rhonda Fleming.
- Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Pennebaker presented the local VFW with a large flag in memory of their son John who was killed in action in the European area. With the family’s blessing, they presented it to Trinity Cemetery.
1974
- Methodist women will host a panel discussion on youth. Speakers will feature Charles Lorber, NLHS principal.
- Alice Burkhart publicly thanked all who voted in the Primary election. She will run for Henry County Treasurer in the general election.
- Kaye Drevland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Drevland, received the BAR Award during commencement exercises.
- Daniel Larmore was recognized as the outstanding graduate speech pathology student at Central Missouri State University during graduation ceremonies.
- New London Cub Scout Pack 44 held a Pinewood Derby.
1999
- New London native Crenna Brumwell recently completed a semesterlong internship in the office of Sen. Chuck Grassley.
- Dover Museum received state grants of $8,148 to repair the museum’s roof and $2,028 for repair of various documents.
- Obituary this week: James Wilson.
- Rebecca Simmons, Cassie Myers, Rebekah Peterson, and Rachel Chrisman all received scholarships at graduation.
2014
- The Dover Museum has recently acquired a new item for a WWI display of August Horns and Rex Orndorf who served in France and Carl Anderson who was a currier. He delivered messages on an Indian Motorcycle. Carl’s goggles are on display.
- Obituaries this week: Ronald Rex Brown, Vera Katherine Berry, and Kathleen Shumaker.
- Phyllis Greulich will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house at Deerwood Golf Club.
