1949

At McMillian Park, the Danville High School Class of 1930 held their class reunion. Attending from New London were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Collins and Eddie and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Garland.
William E. Caris was elected principal of the high school and assistant athletic coach at the school board meeting on Monday evening.
Rev. Paul McDade will return to the Methodist Church as minister for a second year.
Building the Geode Lake Dam will begin this fall.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hobart entertained at a supper Sunday in honor of their mothers, Mrs. Raye Garrels and Mrs. Ray Hobart’s birthdays. Twenty-seven were in attendance.
Floats Committees for the 3rd Annual Fourth of July Celebration will please notify Bob Helphrey of their organizations’ plans to enter a float.

Delores White has leased the kitchen and dining room from Betty Walker and will open an eatery in the Blue Bird.
Diane Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson, has been selected for the Youth Pilgrimage Tour. They will tour sites in Washington DC and the UN in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hunter and Kent attended the graduation of their son and brother, Steve Hunter, on June 14 from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo. Steve made Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges.
The Class of 1960 canceled their class reunion due to lack of interest. This class has never had a reunion, but when they do…WATCH OUT!

1999

The Chamber of Commerce Hometown Pride Award this week went to Jan and Ron Crow and Jan’s parents Elmer and Margaret Watson for the 103-105 Hickory Street duplex.
Pam Coberley Mann was named Teacher of the Year for the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District of Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Ron and Claudia Coberley.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lane celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20.
Larry Miller was wished Happy 70th Birthday on June 19 by his family.
The Class of 1939 held a reunion luncheon. Only three classmates attended. They are Glenn Dockendorff, Etta Landrum Owen, and Madelyn Eckey Shumaker.
Jorgi Krieger, Victoria Noel and Josten Boyer each hit a home run in their game against Cardinal. Final score was an 8-1 Tiger victory.
