1949
- Mrs. Laurel Krieger announces that the New London high school graduating class of 1931 will hold a reunion at Crapo Park on July 24 at 12:30 p.m.
- Mrs. Robert Dameron and Carolyn Joyce returned home from Mercy Hospital.
- Mrs. Ruth Kannegiesser entertained at a birthday party in the park in honor of her son, Billy’s, seventh birthday. Twenty-two guests attended and games were played after which refreshments were served.
- Mr. and Mrs. Jay Patterson, Patricia and Karen, West Burlington and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Patterson, Burlington, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sumner Blanck and Gary.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Sun Comes Up” starring Jeanette McDonald and Claude Jarman and “That Wonderful Urge” starring Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney.
1974
- Karen Davis and Jane Piper, Junior Girl Scouts, will leave July 18 for a week’s stay at Edith Macy Girl Scout National Center in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
- Sherrey Swailes, 3 ½, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Swailes, was bitten by a dog running loose on Saturday. She was rushed to the hospital where she received several stitches. She is expected to make a full recovery with minimal scarring.
- The Class of 1929 held their 45th reunion. Around 25 were in attendance plus two teachers, Miss Louisa Jericho and Mr. Kenneth Cook.
- Mrs. Eileen Meagher and family were Sunday dinner guests at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wick of Mt. Pleasant.
1999
- Jerry and Susan (Miller) Prottsman will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on July 26. They have two children, Joel (Dusty) Prottsman and Jill (Todd) Henecke and two grandchildren.
- Obituaries this week: Wanda Jeane Mundnger, Wyman Wagner, and Lula Parsons.
- The Chamber of Commerce Hometown Pride Award goes this week to Nick Weigert and Teri Housman of 401 East Madison Street.
2014
- The Dover program will conclude with the Civil War series.
- The New London baseball team lost a nine inning game to Lone Tree.
- The family of Raymond A. Brown visited the New London Veterans Memorial after a ceremony at Brooks Cemetery for Mr. Brown. He was a member of the NLHS Class of 1950. He played football and received several scholarships to play in college. He served 28 years in the Air Force.
