- Bert Harper, president of the New London Athletic Association, reported that the bleachers and backstop at the baseball diamond are completed.

- Ralph Heibner bought the D-X station from Feehans and is now in charge.
- Janet Edwards has accepted an office position at Chitton-Eastman in Burlington.
- Frank Colton and Bill Eckey have returned from a trip to the Wisconsin Dells and the Chicago railroad fair.
- This week at the Alamo: “Chicken Every Sunday” starring Dan Dailey and “You Gotta Stay Happy” starring James Stewart.

- The Journal is celebrating its 100th birthday with a 2 for 1 subscription sale.
