•The City Council had a special meeting to issue a building permit to Harry Walters. He will add a fireproof addition to his recreation hall to add more pool tables.
•Mr. and Mrs. Bert Harper entertained at dinner Sunday as a surprise in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John McClure’s 43rd wedding anniversary. Those present were Mrs. Ralph DeSpain, Sonja, Rita, and Annette, Mrs. Lucille Wright, Joan McClure, and Bob and Dolores Harper.
•This week’s Senior Interviews: Velma Parsons, Jim Jarvis, Nona Stigge, Lee Putney, and Grace Walker.
•Emmet R. (Chub) Spraker is the Republican candidate for Clerk of District Court of Henry County.
•This week at the Alamo: “Wild Harvest” starring Alan Ladd and Dorothy Lamour and “The Arnelo Affair” starring John Hodiak and George Murphy.
1973
•New London businessman and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Elliott, were injured in a car accident. They were both hospitalized but are recovering. Mr. Elliott is a funeral director here, working with his son, G. A. Elliott.
•Chapter H, T. T. T. will meet at the home of Mildred Petzinger with Sevelia Bell as co-hostess.
•Christine McConnell and Temple Selby were married on April 20 at the New London Presbyterian Church.
•Carroll A. Johnson received word that he has been appointed postmaster effective April 26.

•Summer Anne Miller was born April 14, 1998 to Darci Miller. Grandparents are Larry and Shirley Miller and great-grandparents are Forrest and Mildred Burkhart.
•Morgan Paige Christner was born April 12 to Chad and Temple Christner. Local grandparents are Frank and June Christner and Debbie and the late Terrill McCall.
•Obituary this week: Robert Greulich.

•The Great Prairie AEA 6th grade math bee was held last week in Fairfield. The top ten finishers out of 218 students included New London’s Mason Porter.
•Obituaries this week: Carol Gillette and Claudia M. Hunter.
•Clark Elementary students of the month: Alex and Joe Hedgecock, Layney Loyd, and Kaylina Wade.
•The JH 4x200m relay team of Mariah DeWitt, Savannah Sutherland, Carson McSorley, and Haylie Krieger finished 1st at the West Burlington meet.
•Senior Spotlight this week: Terri Lynn Conner.
