1949
- James Collins, finance officer of the American Legion, announces that he has ordered a hospital bed and mattress. The bed can be used for people in the community and may be obtained from contacting Mr. Collins.
- The Wesleyan Service Guild will met Nov. 16. Hostesses are Ora Williams, Vera Leedham, Dorothy Kilbourn, and Vera Church. Devotions: Mildred Collins. Lesson: Vera Engelhard.
- Friday night was the last game for five seniors of New London High. They are Frank McCasson, Gerald Vice, Don Farrington, Don Preuss, and Earl Miller.
- The Junior class presents “Professor, How Could You?” on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. Admission is 25c and 50c.
- Judge F. W. Walter has returned to the Journal as a columnist. He will be the society editor…for this week only.
- This week at the Alamo: “You’re My Everything” starring Dan Dailey and Anne Baxter and “Flamingo Road” starring Joan Crawford.
1974
- The Republicans win the county contests.
- UNICEF drive nets $223.97.
- There was a Letter to the Editor signed the N. L. Fan Club pointing out the lack of support New London’s athletes get compared to other schools. They were asking for more fan support.
- Kelly, the 9-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Helms, was honored with a birthday party with all the girls in her class invited.
- Kimberly Nehring and Mary Lee Ballman were installed into the Order of the Rainbow Girls.
1999
- Obituaries this week: Fred Lorber, Conrad Denning, Bernice Peterson, and Thomas Underwood.
- Featured Citizen of Tomorrow is Baylee Ann, 4, daughter of Julie and Kory Lindell.
- Debbie Hack, Drew Moravec, and Wendy Shull have been volunteering in IWC’s Responsible Social Involvement program.
- The 1999 NL Tiger volleyball are congratulated on their season with a full page ad. Coaches were Tom Ferguson and Maureen Heath.
- All-conference VB picks - 1st team: Setter - Susan Wick; Hitters - Erin Lyles and Corina Schropp; Utility - Brittony Williamson. 2nd Team: Hitters - Lyndsay Worden. Honorable Mention: Brandy Miller and Jenny Dahl.
2014
- Tiger Volleyball advances to state!
- Class A, District 6 - 2014 All-District football team - 1st Team Defense - Jayden Flowers (DB) and Austin McBeth (punter). 2nd Team - Tristan Kadel and Hunter Moeller.
- Nathan Goodman, Velma Davey, and Chelsey Kempf were all tied in this week’s football contest by only missing three. Goodman won the tie-breaker and the $50.
