- A family dinner will be held Sunday at the Westerbeck home. Present will be all of their children. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Willits, Karen Sue and Johnny, Davenport. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McKinnon and Jeff. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Byrum, Michael and Cherie, Duane Westerbeck and hosts.
- Mrs. A.D. Hayes and James joined a family dinner on Thanksgiving Day at the Ernest Hayes home, Mt. Pleasant.
- Wm. Pfeiffer announces that the new Hudson Pacemaker is on display at his show room today. $1992.00 delivered in New London with a heater in the two-door Brougham.
- Cleo Robertson left Thursday to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with Lucille Robertson in Chicago.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Fountainhead” starring Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal and “Scudda-Hoo! Scudda-Hay!” starring June Haver.
- Mrs. Robert McCabe and James Ernest returned Sunday from Burlington Hospital.
1974
- JH opens basketball season against W-MU. The high scorer was Andy Vaughan who had 18 points in the victory.
- This year’s basketball cheerleaders are Shari Mallams, Tami Toft, Susan Winter, and Cindy Voyles.
- The girls basketball team members are Diane Wilson, Cindy Ball, Vickie Miller, Shiree Davey, Pat Whitson, Janet Wick, Deana Davison, Barb Clark, Marcia Lorber, Joyce Crabill, Marcia Thornburg, Angie Berkshire, Tammy Blanck, and Jonah Hanson. They are coached by Dave Gibson.
- The boys basketball team members are Joe Peterson, Tim Hines, Dennis Pfadenhauer, Rodney Leonard, John Alden, Mark Pennebaker, Mitch Raines, Mitch Miller, Kevin Hopson, David Vaughan, and Manager Chip Readinger. They are coached by Jack Wilson and Ron Miller.
- Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dircks, David, Robin, Ellen, and Dana, Knoxville, spent Thanksgiving with the Ivan Burkharts.

- The girls basketball team members are Jenny Dahl, Brittony Williamson, Corrina Schropp, Samantha Wagner, Lyndsay Worden, Susan Wick, Erin Lyles, and Manager Dawn Schisler. They were coached by Paul Lorber and Gina Sisk.
- The boys basketball team members are Joel Carter, Andrew Genkinger, Matt Walker, Dee Jay Brobston, Bryce Mueller, Marcus McCabe, Derrick Dickey, Ben Schmitt, Evan Osborne, Jason Holmes, Trent Gorrell, and Mike Springsteen. Managers are Casey Willey, Becky Schweitzer, Amber Loving, and Carrie Booth. They are coached by Curt Shull and Ben Bence.
- Corinne Fullerton is wished happy 80th birthday in a birthday ad and the public is invited to an open house in Nov. 28 to help her celebrate.

- In a Letter to the Editor, Frank Staley was disappointed that Veterans Day had passed with no service. He urged the town not to let that happen again.
- Obituaries this week: Frederick Hartman and Arietta Barry.
- Dean Davis will celebrate his 80th birthday on Nov. 29 with an open house in Danville.
- On Nov. 21 and 22, the drama department put on “Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death.” Andrew McLerran played Inspector Wilkes; Jack Anderson was Detective Bill Wong; Tierany Jewett played Agatha Raisin; and Austin Menke was James Lacey.
