1948
•Ralph Johnson, age 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Johnson, ran into the A. D. Hayes Co. truck and suffered a concussion and bruises. He is home and improving.
•Miss Evelyn Nelson and Robert Dameron were married in a double ring ceremony on April 30.
•Mrs. Elmer Wright, Mrs. Eugene Rogers, Mrs. Ortho Totemeier, Mrs. Claire Bishop, and Mrs. James Collins attended the annual reunion of nurses of Burlington Hospital.
•Senior Interviews: Wilma Orr, Ruth Lessenger, Don Wilson, Dorothy Kobs, and Bob Adolphson.
•Billy Kannegiesser underwent a tonsillectomy at the Burlington hospital.
•This week at the Alamo: “My Wild Irish Rose” starring Dennis Morgan and “Slave Girl” starring Yvonne DeCarlo and George Brent.
1973
•Marlene Benson of Burlington will marry Leonard (Ike) Blythe on May 12 at the First Christian Church in Burlington.
•Donna Brinkmeyer has been accepted as a member the National Music Camp for this coming summer.
•Becky Wolfe and Ron Hoyt will be married on May 5 at the United Methodist Church here.
•The New London School Board stood fast on its decision to terminate the contract of Ronald Franz, a science instructor in the New London System.
•Dave Hollingsworth is now employed as a mechanic at Garrels Motors. He is a 1969 NLHS graduate and married to Jo Parsons.
1998
•Tera Curry and Derek Coleman were married February 28. Their announcement appeared in the Journal this week.
•Obituaries this week: Jessie Weigert, Mary Rodruck, and Donald Martin Nehring.
•Jacob Nye, son of Lynn and Teri Nye and a 1998 graduate of NLHS, graduated from Basic Training at the San Diego Marine base on April 24.
•Senior Portraits this week: Nikki Brown, Angie Kempker, Amanda Kozak, and Rachel Miller.
•Girls Varsity Basketball team held their awards banquet. Most Improved Defender - Anna McCall; Most Improved Passer - Jenny Dahl; Best Hustle Award - Maureen Jacobs; and Most Improved Dribbler - Stephanie Van Syoc.
2013
•Vicky Oge, of HCHC’s Emergency Director and Employee Health Nurse, has been selected as one of the 100 Great Nurses for 2013.
•Obituary this week: Wilbur Weigert.
•Dan Lockard, Minneapolis, MN, was here a few days visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lockard.
•Tess Wobbe wrote an essay honoring teacher Stacy Schroeder, who was awarded the honor at Barnes & Noble in Iowa City.
•Matayo Christianer, Cody Bartles, Charles Yarber, and Braden Gerst are pictured celebrating prom together.
