1950
- Arling Farley bought the John Flam acreage and home in the east part of town. Flam has lived there since 1911. Justus Piper handled the sale.
- The contract to build the Geode park lake in Henry and Des Moines counties was let by the state conservation commission. James Harlan of the commission said the dam will be completed in time to receive the fall rains.
- Lesley Hamilton and Riley Locke filed papers to run for a two-year term on the school board.
- Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Burkhart and Mrs. Robert Riepe motored to Des Moines to attend the girls’ state basket ball tournament.
- Mr. and Mrs. Dale Linder and daughter and Mrs. Blanche Little spent the weekend with the Theo Wilson family in Indianola.
- A family dinner was held at the McCabe home. Present were Beryl McCabe and Jean and Cora Orndorff.
- Mrs. Lucille Noel will be hostess to the Mother’s Club on March 2.
- This week at the Alamo: “The Gal That Took the West” starring Yvonne DeCarlo and “Mickey” starring Lois Butler.
1975
- Senior Spotlights: Homecoming Queen Shari Jo Mallams and Homecoming King Kerry Joe Miller.
- Jill Edwards and Robert Stanton exchanged wedding vows in Des Moines.
- Vandals did considerable damage to Ramey Hall located in the Library basement.
- Senior Spotlights: Cynthia Sue Wright and Timothy Charles Hines.
- Jeff Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Wright, is in the pediatrics ward in Iowa City. He is out of isolation.
2000
- Obituaries this week: Irene Bradford and Dean Gillette.
- A happy birthday ad for Rachell Chrisman from her family.
- There will be a card shower for Ethel Stanley.
- The Danville team beat the Tigers to bring an end to the girls’ basketball season. Susan Wick led the Tigers with 17 points.
2015
- Obituaries this week: Leo Dean Preston and Dorothy Gerdner.
- Marlianna Woodsmall, first grade, is pictured with her tiara at the Valentine party.
- Avery Jacobs (285) brought home 3rd place from the state wrestling tournament.
