The night of Aug. 22 was the date of this year’s “Meet the Players.” It is always a fun night that gives everyone a chance to see our kids who are going to make the next few months full of competition and fun, for not only the players, but also the fans.
The start of this special night was 5:30 p.m. in the gym. The first group to be introduced was our cross-country runners. They are ably coached by Bridget Swailes. These kids give it their all as the run the 5k course.
Next up were the volleyball introductions. With 20 girls out, they are led by four seniors: Kennedy Herrick, Megan Lee, Molly Proust, and Marlianna Woodsmall. They scrimmaged a little to give their fans a hint of what’s to come this season. They are coached by head coach Jackie Housman, and she is assisted by Emily Parks.
The fans then headed out to the football complex to get a look at the Tiger football team and this year’s football cheerleaders. The Tigers are coached by Darrin Loyd, Damon Loyd, and Ben Fry. Our favorite announcer, Dan Berner, kept the festivities moving along. Central Lee was on hand to give both teams a laid-back scrimmage. As the Tigers transitions back to 11-man football, fans need to say a little prayer that no one gets hurt … no one can be spared! They are led by seven seniors: London Franklin, Logan Franklin, Brigham Porter, Paxton Lindsey, Carter Adams, Cale Westerbeck, and Nik Loyd.
Here’s wishing all our athletes a great, injury-free season!
The fun evening culminated with the winners of the parking spot fundraiser being announced. Sixteen people bid on 10 prime parking spots. The winners were happy.
With that, the evening wrapped up and the fans and players alike are ready for the fall sports to begin. Go Tigers!
