Excitement was evident last Thursday as students and families crowded the halls of Clark Elementary. Students found their rooms and were greeted by their teachers. When students found their desks, they found a welcome message from their teachers. In addition to the normal pencils, paper and folders, families also helped out with school room necessities such as Kleenex and paper towels. Many took advantage of the time to have the first conversation of the school as they introduced themselves to this year’s teacher. Many times it was a bit difficult because children were anxious to get to the cafeteria for the traditional ice cream sundae.
This year there are many changes in the locations of the classrooms. Two of the fifth-grade classrooms moved to the rooms built in the old gym. One fifth grade room remains in the Clark addition north of the cafeteria. The new Agriculture and FFA classroom is located in the Clark building. Since the addition was originally built to hold the Industrial program, there is a door the middle and high school students can enter the building without disturbing other elementary classes.
There have been many changes made to the kitchen as well. Some modernize the kitchen and make the work of the cooks more efficient. A lovely new dishwasher is already installed and ready to go. Other replacement equipment is on the way. Families were introduced to the most exciting change. A soft serve ice cream machine has been added. Mr. Wahl and Mr. Palmatier were kept very busy filling cups as everyone gathered for another visit in the cafeteria after visiting their classrooms.
Miss Taelor was waiting in the cafeteria to greet families. She encouraged all students to get a Nugen Library card and of course come to the after-school program every Wednesday. Many great fun activities are available.
