John Strothman went from K through 6th in that building. You would walk up the stairs to a big kindergarten room. The country kids stayed all day and town kids went ½ day. There were two groups of town kids. He started in 1946. (Transferred to Mt. Pleasant).
Berdita (Mosbey) Hibbs came from country school in 1941. She went from 4th through 6th on the third floor. She came from country school and the bigger classes were quite an adjustment. (1950 NLHS Grad)
Janni (Darbyshire) Fitzpatrick went to school in that building from kindergarten through 5th grade. The nurse (Freda McKinnon-1940 NLHS Grad) had an office on the landing facing north. Lots of great memories in that building. (1965 NLHS Grad)
Jan (Watson) Crow went to school in that building from 1st through 4th grade. When she was in Mrs. Lawrence’s third grade class, she remembers her opening a supply closet door and a mouse ran out. Screaming ensued but Jim McCabe (also a 3rd grader) saved the day by “ending” the intruder with a stomp of his engineer boots. (1968 NLHS grad)
If you went to school in this building, it was unforgettable. Thanks to the people who shared!
