Twice a year, the National Honor Society sponsors a blood drive. It is held in the Lorber Gymnasium. NHS Sponsor Cory Reid confirmed that the community had again come through.
The Donor slots were filled, and a busy morning was underway early. Many students volunteered to help. There are papers to fill out and file and treat tables to man. New London is fortunate in that it has a stable, long list of faithful donors.
There is always a need for blood. Many other lifesaving products can be made from a pint of blood. All too often, patients have procedures delayed because of a lack of donor blood. Every pint is appreciated! The National Honor Society receives a small amount of money for helping set up the sites and providing volunteers. This money goes to help NLCSD students in a variety of ways. It is hard to list all the benefits of a well-organized blood donor program. The NHS sets a fine example while fulfilling its four principles: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service.
