New London celebrates two coaches

Mark Chiri and Brian Swafford went from young men to not-so-young men as they coached New London High School wrestlers over many, many years. On June 10, New London got to celebrate these two men as they both retire. It is only fitting that they go out together.

Coach Chiri was head wrestling coach for 37 years and Coach Swafford was by his side for 36 of those years. Through the highs and the lows, they never wavered in their hard work, dedication, and passion they demonstrated for and instilled in the wrestlers they coached.

But their legacy extends beyond wrestling as they coached various sports at New London including junior high wrestling … together.

A big crowd was on hand, to let each man know how appreciated they are. They will be missed!
