Dollars for Scholars is a small but mighty organization.
As the nation’s most extensive grassroots scholarship program, a wide range of student assistance is offered. The wonderful thing about this organization is that every dollar stays in the community. By harnessing the power of community, students receive assistance to attend college, vocational schools, or trade-related training. A further advantage is that students can apply for more than one year’s assistance and move steadily to completing their post-high school goals.
In 1958, Dr. Irving Fradkin founded and promoted a simple idea. His idea was that everyone in his community give just a dollar to a scholarship fund, there would be enough to help every student in the community attend college. It worked. Dollars for scholars is the nation’s largest scholarship administrator. There are 432 chapters across the nation. The average age of each chapter is 25 years.
To date, Dollars for Scholars has distributed 5.4 billion to 3.1 million students. This dedication to hometown student success is phenomenal. By designing meaningful solutions to helping every student achieve their future occupational choice, the cornerstones of our culture grow stronger and thrive.
