Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
The following articles are written by students in the NLHS Journalism class. These efforts are critical as students learn to write accurate, informative and relevant essays about their community. The perspective of the young people in the New London community is important for all to know. As the year progresses, the growth of each writer will be appreciated by all. Be sure to share your positive thoughts with our budding reporters. Thank you! Virginia Ekstrand and Mrs. Thomas.

New London High School Homecoming Game
By Tatem Reed and Jalen Reynolds – Grade 9
New London High School’s homecoming football game has recently been cancelled due to a lack of players and too many injuries, now, instead a basketball game will be its replacement.
The homecoming game that got cancelled was supposed to be against Danville, and many of the students here at New London were pretty excited for the game. Thankfully, the only thing that was really changed was the game, but homecoming week will resume as normal.
We interviews some of the students and players from our high school football team, and it was shown that there were some mixed feelings about our season and team. John Gallup (who played on the football team) stated, “Our team is veryhardworking,” when asked how he felt about the team this season.
Though some students thought that this season was underwhelming, everyone had faith that we would win the homecoming game, not letting performance from previous games discourage them from the overall season. We had interviews another player on the football team, Reed Linsdy, and he had said that “he was not excited for the homecoming game.”
Many people were ready for it to be a close game against Danville. We had asked 5 people what they thought the score would be. In every outcome, they had the New London Tigers winning for every single one of them. Though we will not have a homecoming football game, we still have great faith in our team.
