New London Large Group Speech Team has successful day
Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
A small but dedicated group of students works very hard and is seldom recognized for their hard work. Large group and individual speech competitors in near solitude. New London’s students were up early and on the road to Clear Creek Amana High School to compete in the District Large Group Speech contest.
Four acts were entered. Mrs. Kenel gave everyone a great review.“ They performed so well! The kids gave it their all and we are immeasurably proud!” The scripts and their rating are noted:
- Division II rating: Ensemble Acting — “Lend Me a Tenor” featuring Matthew Rogers & Trayton Schuster
- Division II rating: Ensemble Acting — “The Job Interview” featuring Paige Miller, Abigail Denney, & Sydney Kracht
- Division II rating: Musical Theatre — “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” featuring Matthew Rogers, Paige Miller, Abigail Denney, Riley Merschman, Sydney Kracht, & Trayton Schuster
- Division II rating: Short Film — Art Club featuring Zoe Long, Emma Kenel, Natan Bergman, Jayden Bergman, Cornelia Cam, & Olivia Shultz
An important note to add is that these students are also involved in practicing for “Shrek the Musical” as well as keeping up with their studies and other school activities. Be sure you have March 7 & 8 on your calendar. Shrek promises to be fun for all!
