Life is filled with landmarks. Tuesday, May 28, was bright and sunny as parents and families gathered behind Clark school for the first outdoor graduation ceremony. “Standing room only” does not begin to describe the size of the crowd.
When the 2023-24 Pre-Kindergarten class appeared, their reactions were mixed. Some waved happily at parents while others were not sure exactly what to do. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Mrs. Schumacher, PK Teacher, proudly led the students in singing two popular songs — Five Little Monkeys and the Alphabet Song. Mrs. Strothman, PK Associate, was ever ready to assist students.
A poem was read celebrating the future of these young people and then it was time to receive Certificates of Achievement.
Each student’s name was read as they received their certificate. Mrs. Schumacher located each parent and made sure there was time for a photograph. A picture of the entire class was taken under the shade tree after the ceremony. After graduation, parents could borrow a cap and gown for more pictures. Treats were served as each family picked up the portfolio of student work collected throughout the year. A total of 54 students will gather in August and begin Kindergarten. First, a summer of fun and relaxation.
