Boys Basketball
JV Boys
The news that was accidentally left off last week was that the JV guys were undefeated. They had three wins under their belt. Their first loss was to Notre Dame on Friday, Dec. 12.
Varsity Boys Basketball
The Tigers traveled to Lone Tree on Monday, Dec. 8th. They were in the game all the way, but turnovers finally did them in. The final score was Lions 58 — Tigers 54. The 3rd quarter was the killer. The Tigers scored seven to the Lions’ 18. But our guys were looking better.
Brigham Porter led the way for the Tigers scoring 18 points and adding six rebounds and two steals. Kye Reighard got a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 12 big rebounds. Added to those numbers were three steals.
The Franklin brothers, Login and London, were also key for the Tigers. Login had six points plus five rebounds and four assists. London added seven points and seven rebounds. Gavin Strawhacker had seven points and seven rebounds. Cole Swanson added six and five rebounds.
The best thing was that the Tigers could have … should have won the game!
The team was slated to play Columbus on Dec. 11, but the game was canceled due to weather-related issues. The makeup date is to be determined.
The Tigers faced the undefeated Nikes on Dec. 12 at home. And yes, they got beat by more than 20, but they played hard, made fewer errors, and looked like they believed. The belief was in themselves and in their team. It may not be enough to beat a gifted team like Notre Dame, but I’ll bet it is going to garner this team of Tigers some “W’s” this season.
Brigham Porter had 14 points, Login Franklin added 12, Kye Reighard — eight, Cole Swanson — seven, and Gavin Strawhacker finished up New London scoring with six.
Girls Varsity Basketball
The Lady Tigers game with Columbus was canceled on Dec. 11. It is slated to be made up on a date that is still to be determined.
On Friday, Dec. 12, the Tigers hosted the Notre Dame Nikes. The final score was Notre Dame 51 — New London 8.
Megan Lee scored four points and pulled down an astonishing 16 rebounds. Senior Molly Proost scored two and added seven rebounds and five steals. Katelyn Allen also scored two. Paige Shull-Collins added four rebounds, and Allison Gillip pulled down four rebounds and three steals.
Wrestling
The Tigers hosted the Jeremy Fulk Classic on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Tigers finished in 9th place as a team. Kane Forseen and Killian Kelly each placed 2nd at this home meet.
On Dec. 9, the Tigers competed in the Cardinal Comet duals. They finished 0-3. Killian Kelly finished meet undefeated.
Keep practicing hard this next week Tigers! The Tiger faithful are cheering you on!
