Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
This week’s spotlight moves to the MS/HS. Makenna Mullin teaches English I and sixth grade reading and writing. She went to high school at Winfield-Mt. Union High School. She graduated from Simpson College. Last year she taught at Mediapolis High School.
Being a native of this area, she is no stranger to New London. She has found NL to be welcoming. She says, “It has been a great experience in NL so far! I have met so many nice and easy-to-talk-to people!”
Ms. Mullin’s family is mom Kathy, a former teacher at W-MU HS. Her dad, Randy, has his own business, Mullin’s Construction. She also has one younger sister. She enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs.
In her spare time, Makenna likes to dance and workout. You might also find her painting, reading and/or writing. She enjoys putting together antique tractors.
She sums up her experience so far, “ I’m currently the cheer coach for football at NL and am in the works for starting a dance team! I’m still in my first few years of teaching, but have already come to the conclusion that NL is a great place to be a teacher!”
We wish Ms. Mullin a great first year!
