NHS welcomes new members

The New London High School Chapter of the National Honor Society held an induction ceremony on Wednesday, April 12 in the HS auditorium. At this time, the new members were introduced, new officers were installed, and the soon-to-be graduated seniors were thanked for their work in the program. Sponsor Cory Reid served as Master of Ceremonies.

The outgoing officers chose Mr. Ben Bence, MS/HS social studies teacher, as this year’s guest speaker. He gave an inspirational speech that was enjoyed by all in attendance.

The outgoing officers were Pres. Emma Nye, VP Kade Benjamin, Treas. Elly Manning, and Sec. Camryn Lair. The new officers installed were Pres. Lanie Szewczyk, VP Reid Bell, Treas. Josiah Denney, and Sec. Tysann Gipple.

The new members then went through the induction ceremony assisted by Principal Scott Kracht. They included Emma Busby, Josiah Denney, Morgan Jones, Mylee Miller, Brett Powell, and Nicholas Powell.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
