NL City Council adopts budget
Members held special meeting April 29.

The New London City Council held a special meeting on April 29, 2024. Starting at 6 p.m. at the City Office, the following Council members were in attendance: Dan Berner, Travis Benz, and Dawn Sines. They approved the agenda.
The meeting opened with a public hearing. There were no citizen questions or comments on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025. They approved Resolution #421 authorizing and directing levy of property taxes and adopting a budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
In old business, the Council approved the solid waste services agreement with Waste Management beginning on July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027. They also approved Resolution #422 authorizing temporary closing of a public way for the New London Days event on July 27, 2024.
In new business, the Council approved Resolution #423. This resolution approved reasonable competitive bidding procedures for disposition of certain property located within the South Pine Street Urban Renewal Area; directing publication of related notices; and declaring the intent of the City to accept the offer submitted by Chad Sovern Contracting Inc. in the event that no qualified competing proposals are submitted (Lots 1, 3-5, Pine Street Subdivision Second Addition.)
There was no representative from the group sponsoring the New London Tornado Relief and Appreciation Fundraiser. The Council will need more information from this group before any decisions are made regarding the event.
The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m. The next regular meeting of the New London City Council will be on May 13, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the City Office.
