NL Cross-Country Keeps Improving

The cross-country meet on Tuesday, Sept. 17 was in Oskaloosa and was a HS meet only. The course was tough with hills.
The HS boys' team had the following times and place:
- Natan Bergman — 21:57 — 83rd
- Zayden Lawrence — 23:11 — 102nd
- Elijah Ingwersen — 29:44 — 163rd
- Jayden Wagner — 34:16 — 170th
The HS girls' team — time and place:
- Irelynn Kelly — 31:09 — 96th
The meet on Sept. 19 was at Fort Madison for both JH/HS.
Boys times and place:
- Bergman — 21:17 — 45th
- Lawrence — 24:48 — 81st
- Ingwersen — 29:52 — 104th
- Wagner — 32:14 — 106th
Girls times and place:
- Kelly — 27:33 — 37th
The JH course was a bit longer than two miles. Coach Swailes said, “The kids ran well considering the heat, having two meets, and some were battling illness.”
JH boys times and place:
- Zane Long — 16:06 — 26th
- Job Reighard — 16:35 — 32nd
- Bentley Wright — 16:40 — 33rd
- Linken Welcher — 17:32 — 42nd
JH girls times and place:
- Lillian Francy — 20:13 — 25th
- Gracie Dilks — 20:16 — 26th
Swailes continued, “Next week we run in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday and then have the week to recover. The HS will run on Monday, Sept. 30 at Clear Creek Amana while the JH will get a two-week meet break.”
