NL Library Posts ‘Wish List’

The weather is finally beginning to say, “Spring is Coming!” Unbelievably, it is time to start planning summer activities. The H.J. Nugen Library offers an important, popular summer service. Our New London Library Director Taelor Donnolly, Assistant Director Brittney Lerner and Library Assistant Nora Meirotto have already begun plans for the Summer Reading Program.

“BRAG TAG“ entries were due April 4. Students illustrate their ideas and submit them. The librarians choose the winners and will post them on the library site. The pictures are then shaped into the dog tag shape and become awards for meeting reading levels throughout the summer. The theme this year is Level Up At Your Library. Wearing the dogs tags in creative ways after receiving an award is also a creative task many readers enjoy.

New London Nugen Public Library is using the theme chosen by iREAD. This summer reading program is designed to encourage reading for children, teens, and adults. It offers resources such as activities, graphics, crafts, reading lists, and incentives, and is adopted in many states and by the Department of Defense.

Each library works hard to provide rewards and resources for its readers. Taelor has provided a library wish list. This list will have a note next to the item explaining what program it will be used for. The library needs these items to make the programs happen. Library budgets are limited and funds are being cut nationally and statewide. Our library is an integral part of our community and many of our children visit daily. All can help and all efforts are greatly and truly appreciated!
