The New London Utilities Board met in regular session Aug. 7, 2025 with all trustees present. They approved the agenda, the consent agenda, and no one addressed the trustees in open forum.
The group then heard reports. Chairman Dan Heater gave an update on the wind turbine. Its production for this time of year is where it should be, and he will continue to update the group on its progress.
Chairman Heater reviewed the most recent emails dealing with a proposed agreement between the RPGI (Resale Power Group of Iowa) and Networking Transmission Systems Incorporated. The trustees were not comfortable with all aspects of agreement.
As treasurer, City Clerk Howard reported that the sales representative for new Vision metering software thinks it is best if they wait for the new Edmonds office software to be installed before implementing the metering software. It is scheduled to be implemented no later than July 2026.
Utility foreman Dave Ford gave the trustees a report on what they have completed this last month. Included were the completion of the yearly fire hydrant flushing, yearly truck boom inspection, and removal of electric service at 600 S. Walnut St. He also gave the trustees an update on the inspection and repair of the wind turbine blades. After inspecting the blades with binoculars, he believe there are no repairs needed at this time. In the video Walt Jackson took, the blades were moving, thus making the blades difficult to clearly see.
Ford also commented that they have been spending a lot of time with Alliant Energy who is replacing their gas mains in several areas around town.
In new business, the trustees took the following actions:
- Approved reinvesting electric funds of $126,000 and $108,000 in 182-day CDs at the Danville Sate Savings bank at 4.50%.
- Approved resolution #162 authorizing the city clerks to transfer fund for FY 2026.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 p.m. The next regular utility board meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the city office.
