The last regular meeting of the New London Utility Board for this year was Dec. 5, 2025. No trustees were absent. They approved the agenda and no one addressed them in open forum.
Chairman Dan Heater reviewed the mission and vision statements. Each trustee and employee shared their name, years of service and roles and responsibilities within the utilities. Heater stated that the three-year plan needs updating, but that will be the committees’ job. He also commented on the wind turbine production report. He hopes to reach 5,000,000 kWh yet this year.
They heard from Utility foreman Dave Ford. He named several items kept the utility workers busy that included:
· Broken pole replacement on 205th Ave.
· Replaced bad transformer in Redbud Circle.
· Installed a new electrical service in Dover Circle and on Nebraska Ave.
· Attended IAMU water classes
· Replacement meter at 704 East Main St.
· Large amount of Alliant locates.
· Assisted with electric outage that affected all of the service area in Danville.
Chairman Heater inquired about GIS mapping and training. The City Clerk is still waiting on French Reneker. She will contact them for an update.
Utility foreman Ford gave the Trustees an update on the upgrades to the water softener control system. He reported that Jetco was finishing up some other jobs and will be working at the plant this winter when the weather is bad and they can’t work outdoors.
The trustees approved the consent agenda. In new business, they invested $289,200 in a CD at the Danville State Savings for 182 days.
The trustees approved the appointment of Dan Heater as chairman for 2026 with Heater abstaining. They also approved Jodi Jackson as Chairperson Tempore for 2026 with Jackson abstaining. They will pick committee appointments at a later meeting when all five members are present.
They also approved the Community Service Agreement with the New London Holiday Stroll and donation of $500 to pay for the horse drawn wagon rides. (This was before the Stroll was canceled for weather-related reasons.)
The meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m. The next regular meeting of the utility board will be Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the City office.
