NLHS Large Group Speech team sweeps districts

NLHS will send five groups to state contest next month

KEOTA — The New London team sent five entries to host school Keota on a snowy Saturday morning, Jan. 20 for the Iowa High School Speech Association’s Large-Group Speech District Contest. When the day was done, ALL five groups had received a Division I rating and ALL five are headed to State in two weeks.

The entries were as follows:

•Ensemble Acting — “Fugue” featuring Averie Senn, Lanie Szewczyk, Abigail Denney, and Matthew Rogers.

•Ensemble Acting — “Dueling Phobias” featuring Josiah Denney and Reid Bell.

•Ensemble Acting — “The Pearly Gates” featuring Miah Phillips, Paige Miller, and Sydney Kracht.

•Musical Theatre — “Little Shop of Horrors” featuring Matthew Rogers, Josiah Denney, Lanie Szewczyk, Averie Senn, Abigail Denney, and Trayton Schuster.

•Short Film — Leper County featuring Reid Bell, Miah Phillips, Jayden Bergman, Sydney Kracht, and Trayton Schuster.

Congratulations to these students for their amazing sweep, and good luck at State!!!
