NLHS Tiger Sports Round-Up

This important news was inadvertently left off last week. The Mario Kart Team qualified for the state tournament to compete on June 1.
Softball
On May 30, The Tigers traveled to Mediapolis. Their outing was a difficult one as they lost 14 -2. Megan Lee hit a double and scored Natalie Burden who had been walked. Camryn Lair also hit a single and had an RBI. Megan Lee pitched three innings, giving up 12 hits and walking six.
Wednesday, June 1 found the Tigers at home facing Central Lee. It was another tough night that ended with a 15-1 loss. No stats were available.
Friday, June 2, the Tigers hosted the Holy Trinity Crusaders. The Tigers lost in four innings, 13-0. No Tiger stats were available.
Baseball
May 30 saw the Tigers at Mediapolis to take on the Bulldogs. It was a night to forget as the Tigers lost 10-0. Gavin Menke-Bailey had two singles and Memphis Watson had one which was it for the Tiger bats. Kye Reighard pitched three for the Tigers giving up three hits, seven runs, and walking five. Gage Burden pitched the fourth giving up two hits, three runs, and walking six. Reighard took the loss.
The Tigers hosted Central Lee on May 31. The young Tigers had a rough night. The final score was 18-6 Hawks. Gavin Menke-Bailey was walked twice and scored a run. Memphis Watson hit two singles and scored two runs. Kye Reighard hit a single, drove in an RBI, and scored a run. Tate Welcher hit two singles and drove in three. Nick Powell and Cale Westerbeck each had a hit and Vegas Watson scored a run. Menke-Bailey pitched 2.2 innings and Powell pitched 3.1 suffering the loss.
June 1 the Tigers were home against Keota. The Tigers scored a run in the first and fourth innings, but Keota blew the game open in the 5th inning with nine runs. No individual stats were available.
June 2, the Notre Dame Nikes came to town. The Tigers scored their only run in the third inning. As did Keota, the Nikes had a big single inning in the fifth, scoring seven and blowing the game apart. The final score was 8-1. No Tiger stats were available. The Tigers finish the week 1-7.

Girls Soccer
The Mt. Pleasant Panthers handed out team awards and the MVP went to New London’s Elly Manning. The only senior on the team, her stats were impressive. She scored 24 goals and 12 assists on the season. She also had three hat tricks on the season including a game winner against Mediapolis at the start the season. Her season high was five goals against Fairfield. On senior night, she led the Panthers with two goals in a 3-0 win over Washington. Elly fittingly was also named 1st team All-Conference.
