NLHS Tiger Sports Round Up

June 12
The Tigers were home hosting Hillcrest Academy. The softball team had nine hits and scored six runs. Unfortunately Hillcrest scored 16.
Natalie Burden hit a single and was walked. She scored two runs. Sophie Malott had a single, an RBI, and scored a run. Kaitlyn Lee went three-for-four hitting three singles and scoring a run. Others getting hits were Alex Farley, Shaylee Brothersen, Camryn Lair, and Emma Nye.
Pitcher Megan Lee pitched six innings and took the 16-6 loss.
The baseball team was also at home hosting Hillcrest Academy. The Tigers had a big fifth and sixth inning ( seven runs), erasing a 3-1 Hillcrest lead. The Tigers won, 8-4, handing Hillcrest only their second loss of the season.
Memphis Watson had two hits and three RBIs. Brendan Richey and Tate Welcher also had two hits. Vegas Watson and Gage Burden each contributed a hit with Watson driving in two, and Burden getting a single RBI.
Kye Reighard pitched 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, giving up four runs, while walking two and striking out three. Vegas Watson got the win, pitching 2.2 innings.
June 13
The Tiger softball team got their first win of the season over the Danville Bears, 16-10. The Tigers had a big first inning, scoring eight. Then added four runs in the second, winning comfortably. Their 16 runs came on 12 hits.
Natalie Burden had a big night hitting two homeruns and driving in two. Sophie Malott hit two singles and scored a run. Megan Lee had three hits and an RBI. Sister Kaitlyn Lee also had three hits, two singles and a triple. She drove in three and scored three runs. Others getting hits were Camryn Lair and Shaylee Brothersen. Kennedy Herrick scored four runs, Morgan Jones and Lair each scored two, and Alex Farley and Lillie Gallup each scored one.
Freshman pitcher Megan Lee got the win pitching the entire game. She walked one and struck out one. Way to go ladies!
The Tiger baseball team was also victorious on the Bears’ home field, winning 15 to 2. The Tigers did all the damage in the first four innings after breaking a first inning 2-2 tie. They scored their runs on eight hits. Brendan Richey and Gage Burden each had two hits and scored two runs. Getting one hit were Kye Reighard, Tate Welcher, Memphis Watson, and Cale Westerbeck.
Gavin Menke-Bailey pitched all five innings. He allowed three hits for two runs while walking two and striking out three.
June 14
The softball team traveled to Wapello to face the Arrows. It was a tough night for the Tigers as they went down to defeat, 5-0. The Tigers got three hits on the night. Natalie Burden hit two singles and Shaylee Brothersen hit one. Megan Lee pitched seven innings, suffering the loss.
June 15
The Tiger teams were at home against Mediapolis. The softball team had a stellar night beating the Bulldogs 13-1. The Tigers scored twice in the second and third innings, and blew the game open in the fourth with nine runs scored. There were no individual stats available.
The baseball team had a long night losing to Mediapolis 16-1. The Bulldogs scored nine runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Brendan Richey and Vegas and Memphis Watson all pitched for the Tigers. Kye Reighard and Tate Welcher each hit a single. The Tigers fall to 5-10 on the season.
June 17
The Lady Tigers traveled to Cardinal HS to play in the Cardinal Invitational Tournament. The Tigers went down to defeat 13-1 to host Cardinal. Their second game was against Pella Christian. The final score was a Pella Christian 7-0 victory. No individual stats were available.
Both teams are coming off two big victories…keep working Tigers!!!!!!
