NLHS Tiger Sports Round Up

June 19
The Tigers traveled to Highland to take on the Huskies. It just wasn’t their night as they went down to defeat, 12-0. The Huskies (13-7) scored nine of their runs in the first two innings. The Tigers had no hits. Megan Lee pitched four and suffered the loss.
The Tiger boys won their sixth game in convincing manner, 13-5 against Highland. The Tigers scored in every inning but the second.
Gavin Menke-Bailey got on base his four times at bat, hitting two singles and a triple and getting a walk. He scored two runs. Kye Reighard hit three singles, drove in a run, and scored twice. Brendan Richey hit a double, had two RBIs, and scored twice. Tate Welcher hit two doubles, had two RBIs, and scored a run. Memphis Watson hit a double, an RBI, and scored three runs.
Vegas Watson hit a single and drove in a run. Nick Powell hit a single and a double and had four…yes four…RBIs. Gage Burden hit a single and scored a run. Cale Westerbeck scored a run.
As a team, they had no fielding errors. Kye Reighard pitched five getting the win. Richey came in and pitched the last two.
June 20
The Tiger softball team lost to Holy Trinity 12-0 on HTC’s field. There were no stats available.
Tiger baseball traveled to Burlington to take-on Notre Dame. The 21-6 Nikes were victorious, 10-3. The Tigers generated six hits. Brendan Richey had a single and a double and scored a run. Tate Welcher hit three singles and had two RBIs. Gage Burden hit a single. Scoring the other runs were Gavin Menke-Bailey and Kye Reighard.
June 21
The scheduled softball game against Pekin was cancelled.
The baseball game against Pekin went on as scheduled with the Tigers getting a 10-7 home victory. The Tigers scored their 10 runs on 14 hits. Leading the Tigers with three hits was Memphis Watson with two singles and a double. Brendan Richey, Kye Reighard, Gage Burden, and Vegas Watson accounted for two hits each plus seven RBIs. The boys getting one hit were Gavin Menke-Bailey, Tate Welcher, and Nick Powell.
Vegas Watson pitched three innings, and Nick Powell came in in relief and got the win.
June 22
The Tigers played at home against Van Buren County. It was another tough night with Van Buren winning 21-4. New London scored three runs in the first and one run in the second. No individual stats were available.
It was a tough night for the boys too. They faced the 21-2 Warriors and lost 15 to 4. No stats were available for the boys.
June 23
Both teams traveled to West Burlington to take-on the Falcons. The girls lost to a tough WB team, 12-0. No stats were available.
The boys lost a heartbreaker, 15-14. No stats were available.
