May 8:
Girls Golf
The Lady Tigers traveled to Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course to compete in in SEI Super Conference golf tournament. Taylor Phillips and Mediapolis’ Olivia Hines battled for medalist. On this day, Taylor lost medalist by one stroke, 79 to 78. She may have lost that battle, but she won the war, leading her team to the conference team crown with a 355. That was a 34-stroke drubbing of second place Highland.
Taylor finished with a 79, and Sophie Malott was third with an 87, earning both first team all-conference honors. Other Tigers garnering 1st team all-conference were Emma Nye with a 94 and Emma Busby with a 95. The Tigers remain undefeated!

Girls Soccer
The Mt. Pleasant Panthers notched a win over Ft. Madison on their home field, 3-2. Elly Manning finished the night with two goals. The Panthers got some payback after an earlier 5-2 loss to the Bloodhounds.
May 10:
Boys Golf
The Tigers traveled to Wapello to participate in the sectional tournament at Heritage Oaks. When the dust settled, the boys were moving on to Districts along with Wapello.
Wapello finished first at 345 and New London took the second spot at 365 edging out W-MU at 367.
The Tigers’ second place finish will advance the boys to the District tournament.
Mason Shelledy finished second overall after being bested in a playoff after he and Wapello’s Casey Short tied in regulation with an 84.
Weston Miller carded an 89, Wyatt Miller followed with a 94, Coen Fitzpatrick - 98, Sully Barron - 104, and Vegas Watson - 115.
May 11:
Girls Soccer
The Panthers took it on the chin, losing to Burlington Notre Dame, 6-3. Elly Manning netted one of My. Pleasant’s three goals.
Girls Track
Both teams ran at Wayland in the state qualifying meet (SQM) for Class 1A. As a team, the Lady Tigers finished 11th with 15 points. Individual results follow:

•200m Dash - Reeves Jacobs - 16th - 31.91 (PR); Izebella Dusenberry - 24th - 37.09.
•400m Dash - Kennedy Herrick - 13th - 1:12.39.

•100m Hurdles - Jacobs 14th - 19.13 (PR).
•4x100m Relay - Liberty Henderson, Miah Phillips, Ines Veschembes (PR-14.25), Haynes - 1:01.94.
•4x200m Relay - Tysann Gipple (PR-27.7), Morgan Jones, Veschembes, Haynes - 9th -2:04.68.
•4x400m Relay - Gipple (PR-69.99), Herrick, Jones, Brooklyn Curry - 5th - 4:45.85.
•Sprint Medley - Henderson, Phillips, Veschembes, Herrick - 11th - 2:16.73.
•Distance Medley - Jacobs, Gipple, Curry, Jones - 5th - 4:57.41 (PR).
•High Jump - Gipple - 4th - 4-10.00 (Medalist) (Tied PR).
•Shot Put - Megan Lee - 19th - 24-11.25; Kaitlyn Lee - 21st - 24-02.75.

Boys Track
The boys track team finished 6th as a team with 64 points. Individual results follow:
•100m Dash - Boden Pickle - 4th - 11.55 (SQ); Leo Gebauer - 16th - 12.52.
•200m Dash - Carter Benjamin - 12th - 26.11.
•800m Run - Rylan Martin - 1st (SQ) - 2:02.25; Cauy Garrett - 6th - 2:12.59.
•1600m Run - Martin - 2nd - 4:41.42 (SQ); Nick Powell - 12th - 5:21.54.
•400m Hurdles - Cale Westerbeck - 6th - 1:02.02.
•4x100m Relay - Pickle, London Franklin, Kade Benjamin, Brigham Porter - 2nd - 44.88 (SQ).
•Sprint Medley - Pickle, Franklin, Porter, Martin - 3rd - 1:38.20 (New School Record) (SQ).
•Distance Medley - Pickle, Franklin, Porter, Martin - 1st - 3:40.97 (SQ).
•High Jump - Benjamin - 1st - 6-06.00 (SQ).
•Long Jump - C. Benjamin - 13th - 16-03.25; Gebauer - 15th - 16-02.25.
•Shot Put - Josiah Denney - 8th - 36-09.00.
•Discus - Aiden Borton - 18th - 84-07.
The boys will take seven events to the State tournament starting May 18.
May 12
Girls Golf
The Tiger Girls Golf team did it again! They just keep on winning. Their latest victory is the Class 1A regional first-round tournament. Playing at Deerwood, they dominated placing four players in the top five.
As a team, they shot a 354, with 59 strokes separating them and second place Highland. W-MU was third with a 446.
Taylor Phillips and Emma Nye both shot an 83. Phillips took medalist honors on a cardback. Sophie Malott took third place with a 90. Emma Busby finished fifth with a 98. Izzy Nye shot a 106 and Stevey Wintermeyer rounded out the Tiger team with 111.
Way to go Ladies and good luck at the regional final!
Sports Shorts
•Last week, 8tth grader Riley Raines broke the school record in the mile. We just got word that he broke his own newly minted record at the last meet of season…Impressive!
•The Mario Kart Esports team will participate in the 2023 IAHSEA D2 Mario Kart Team Playoffs in Des Moines on June 1. They will start with Round 1-Pods. New London is in Pod 2 with Lone Tree and Okoboji. The Smite team has also made it to the post season. They will take on the Osage Esports team during the week of the 15th. The winner will get the chance to compete in Des Moines for the state title.
