Girls Soccer
The Panthers were in a tight contest with Ottumwa, but pulled out a 2-1 victory. Elly Manning had an assist for the Panthers.
Boys Soccer
The Danville-New London team was in a battle with the WACO team, but came away with the win, 1-0. Colin Pealer scored the only goal for the Bears!
May 16
Boys Golf
Class 1A district golf tournament was held at the Brown Deer Golf Course in Iowa City. New London Senior Mason Shelledy wasn’t ready for the season to end. He let his clubs and his talent do his talking, finishing runner-up medalist with a 75. With that performance, he punched his ticket to the State tournament as an individual. He will play at the Ames Golf & Country Club on May 22 and 23.
The Tigers, as a team, finished sixth with a score of 357. They played great, but came up just short against some tough competition. The team’s individual results: Weston Miller shot a 90, Wyatt Miller - 93, Coen Fitzpatrick - 98, Vegas Watson - 104, and Sully Barron - 108.
May 17
Girls Golf
They did it again! Coach Greg Lerdal and his Lady Tigers are headed to the state tournament. They took first as a team with a score of 371 and had three of the top six golfers. Taylor Phillips finished as runner-up with an 87. Emma Nye took third with an 89, Sophie Malott was fourth with a 90. Emma Busby carded a 105, Stevey Wintermeyer - 109, and Izzy Nye - 111.
The Tigers will play on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26 at the Cedar Pointe Golf Club in Boone. Good luck Ladies!

State Track
Boden Pickle qualified in the 100m and ran in the prelims. His time was 11.81 to finish 20th.
May 19
State Track
Kade Benjamin earned another State High Jump championship with a jump of 6-07.00. This is the second consecutive year Kade has brought home the gold! Way to go Kade!
The Distance Medley team of Boden Pickle, London Franklin, Brigham Porter, and Rylan Martin finished with a time of 3:40.67 to bring home a medal for seventh place.
In the prelims, the 4x100m relay team of Pickle, Franklin, Benjamin, and Porter finished with a time of 44.85, an 11th place finish.
Girls Soccer
The Mt. Pleasants girls’ team demolished Maquoketa in the first round of the playoffs, 10-0. Lead by our own Elly Manning, she scored four goals and had three assists. Way to go Panthers!
May 20
State Track
In the 800m Sprint Medley, the team of Pickle, Porter, Franklin, and Benjamin qualified for this race with the 22nd fastest time in Class 1A They finished 16th with a time of 1:37.87…BUT they broke their own school record of 1:38.20. Good effort guys!
Rylan Martin ran the race of his life, taking third place in the 800m with a time of 1:57.47, shattering his PR of 2:00.56. He also broke the school record of 1:59.02 held by Seth Bailey. What a race Rylan!
Rylan ran the 1600m just about three hours after running the 800. He finished 15th with a time of 4:37.88. It was a PR for Rylan. What impressive finishes for the seniors!
So ends the State tournament for the Tigers. In boys Class 1A as a team, the Tigers were in a six-way tie for 12th with Danville and others with 18 points. WACO and Winfield finished in a four-way tie for 25th with 11 points. Wapello was tied for 31st with eight points.
Others in SEISC were Columbus (1A) second as a team with 52 points; Mediapolis (2A) tied for 1st with Williamsburg with 62 points; Van Buren County (2A) - 11th with 18.5 points; L&M (2A) - 12th with 18 points; Central Lee (2A) - tied for 50th with three points; and West Burlington/Notre Dame (3A) - tied for 9th with 25 points.
