June 5
The Tigers traveled to Lone Tree to take on the Lions. When the battle of the big cats ended, the Tigers were victorious, 6-2. The Tigers generated eight hits. Gavin Menke-Bailey, Kye Reighard, and Cale Westerbeck each hit a single and scored a run. Memphis Watson also hit a single that scored two. Brendan Richey and Tate Welcher had two hits. Richey also had two RBIs.
Menke-Bailey pitched six innings and got the win. He struck out eight, walked three, and gave up five hits.
June 6
Another away game had the Tigers in Keosauqua playing Van Buren County. The boys had a rough night, losing 14-4. The Tigers had five hits on the night. Gavin Menke-Bailey and Brendan Richey each had a hit and an RBI, with Menke-Bailey scoring a run. Tate Welcher, Kye Reighard, and Memphis Watson each hit a single, with Watson scoring a run. Gage Burden and Riley Raines were each walked and scored a run.
Menke-Bailey pitched 2.2 innings and was relieved by Nick Powell. He took the loss, also pitching 2.2 innings. He gave up four hits, walked three, and allowed eight runs.
June 7
The Tigers hosted the WMU Wolves. Allowing four runs in the first inning, the team held W-MU to only one more run, to win 7-5. Gavin Menke-Bailey had a hit and two RBIs. Kye Reighard and Cale Westerbeck each hit two singles and scored a run. Reighard drove in three and Westerbeck drove in one. Memphis Watson hit a single and scored a run. Vegas Watson walked twice, scoring two runs. Gage Burden hit a single and a double and scored two runs.
Winning pitcher Memphis Watson threw six innings, giving up five hits, five runs and walking three.
June 8
The Tigers finished out the week with an exciting home game against the West Burlington Falcons. When the dust cleared, the Tigers lost a heartbreaker, 10-9. But they never quit against the Falcons. The Tigers led 6-5 through the 5th inning, but the Falcons scored five in the last two innings to the Tigers three, giving WB a slim victory.
New London threw 11 batters at WB, scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning. Brendan Richey hit a two-run, bases-loaded single.
The young Tigers stranded 14 runners and lacked defensive consistency. In the bottom of the seventh, Kye Reighard and Richey were walked and Tate Welcher hit a single to load the bases. Memphis Watson got a hit and scored Reighard. Vegas Watson was hit by a pitch to reload the bases. But it wasn’t meant to be as the Tigers came up short.
The Tigers had eight hits with two each from Richey, Memphis Watson, and Cale Westerbeck. Turning in a great effort, Richey pitched the whole game, but was saddled with the heartbreaking loss.
WB went to 4-4 and the Tigers fall to 3-9.
Softball
June 5
Going to Lone Tree, the Tigers took on the Lions. The Tigers scored a run in each of the first three innings, but the Lions scored 11. New London had three hits: Natalie Burden and Morgan Jones each hit a single and Sophie Malott smacked a double. Burden, Malott, and Alex Farley each scored with Megan Lee and Emma Nye each getting an RBI.
Lee pitched 4.2 innings and suffered the loss. The final score was a Lone Tree win, 15-3.
June 6
This day the Tigers traveled to Keosauqua to face a 7-3 Van Buren County team. The Tigers scored their only run in the first inning. Morgan Jones hit two singles. Olivia Hester hit a double, and hit in Alex Farley for the score. Megan Lee pitched four innings and took the loss as the Tigers fell 13-1
June 7
The Tigers hosted the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves. The girls had five hits on the night. Morgan Jones went 3-for-4, hitting three singles and driving in two. She also scored a run. Natalie Burden struck out once and walked twice. She scored a run. Sophie Malott hit a single. Olivia Hester had an RBI and Alex Farley scored a run. Shaylee Brotherson hit a single, had an RBI, and scored a run.
Megan Lee pitched all seven innings. The final score was a W-MU win, 8-4.
June 8
The Lady Falcons were in town for an SEISC South Division matchup. West Burlington left town with a 12-0 victory. They scored two in the first inning and 10 in the third. No Tiger stats were available.
June 9
The Tigers played in the Fairfield Softball Invitational. They played Fairfield and lost 11-0. No Tiger stats were available at press time.

•Tiger catcher Tate Welcher is in a two-way tie for state leader in throwing out runners stealing bases with 13 as of June 12. Way to go Tate!
