Thursday, 7:30-11:30 a.m., Oct. 30, the New London National Honor Society will hold its Fall Blood Drive. To schedule an appointment, please contact Cory Reid at cory.reid@nlcsd.org. One can also register and donate blood Thursday morning. The Lorber gymnasium is located at 101 Wilson Street, New London.
Impact for Life provides the personnel, equipment and expertise to take the blood and store it properly until it reaches its destination. Each donor is given a mini-physical and interviewed to ensure the donation will not endanger his or her well-being. Sixteen-year-old students are welcome to donate but must have a parent’s permission. All privacy and HIPPA rules are followed.
ImpactLife’s slogan is “Changing the World Together.” ImpactLife currently provides blood products for more than 120 hospitals in Iowa Missouri and Wisconsin. Although more than 5,000 mobile blood drives are held each year, the blood supply is vulnerable to shortages. Everyone eligible to donate should visit www.bloodcenter.org and determine the best way to help.
The NLHS National Honor Society works relentlessly for its school and community. The blood drive is a fundraiser to help them continue their efforts. The organization receives money to use for scholarships, charitable donations, or meeting classroom needs. This year donors also will receive a reward: the choice of a gift card, a donation to area food banks, or bonus points to the rewards store! Donating blood is a win for all.
