STAR Scholarship to Morgan Jones

The prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year was presented to Morgan Jones, a senior at New London High School. The scholarship was presented at the New London awards ceremony by Jennifer Lacy.
Morgan is the daughter of Lena and Mike Jones and was recommended for this scholarship by Chapter EV of New London/Danville.
Jones has been accepted and will attend Southeastern Community College where she has plans to study nursing beginning this fall.
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success. The program is open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. chapter.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded January 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans. There are nearly 5,500 local chapters in the United States and Canada with almost 250,000 initiated members. The P.E.O. Sisterhood has provided over $432 million in financial assistance to more than 125,000 recipients. The P.E.O. Sisterhood also owns Cottey College, a fully accredited, private liberal arts and sciences college for women, with two-year and selected four-year programs located in Nevada, Missouri.
Local Chapter awards scholarship to Emma Busby
Chapter EV of P.E.O. of the New London and Danville communities is pleased to announce they have awarded a $500 scholarship to Emma Busby of New London at the New London High School awards ceremony.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization with chapters throughout the United States and Canada. The purpose of the organization is to promote educational opportunities for women at every level of education. This is accomplished in various ways through grants, scholarships, and low interest loans. Chapter EV awards local scholarships to high school senior girls in New London and Danville who are continuing their education in either a two year or four year institution.
