Porter plays in Pizza Ranch All-Star Game

Blaise Porter was nominated and chosen to play in the Pizza Ranch All-Star Basketball game on March 25 at Dallas Center Grimes. The event is sponsored by Pizza Ranch and IBCA (Iowa Basketball Coaches Association).

There were four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams based in the area of the state where they play. Abby Bence, daughter of Ben and Lisa Bence, was also participating. She plays for West Burlington and was on the SE team. Her dad is a teacher at New London and her mom, Lisa (Worden), is a 1997 NLHS graduate.

On Porter’s team was Merquiche Lewis, the Burlington HS standout. It was a chance for the All-Hawk Eye’s co-players of the year to play together. The SE team lost their first game to the SW team by 10 points. They came back and won the consolation game against the NW team, 121 to 98.

Porter was named to the All-Tournament Team.
