Senior Spotlight: Josiah T. Denney
Mar. 28, 2024 12:00 am
This senior entered the world on Feb. 2, 2006. He is the third son of Marci and Seth Denney, joining Samuel, 21, and Isaiah, 19. These Denney boys would be joined by sister Abigail, 16, as she completed the family.
The delighted grandparents were Robert and Marsha Thomas and Ardith and Tom Denney.
Josiah, who goes by the nickname El Fusilado, has been a New London Tiger since kindergarten. This school year he is looking forward to graduation and track with the meatballs.
In high school, he participated in track, football, E-sports, and pep band. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the student council. He has starred in the musicals and participated in speech. He was a member of the 2023 Homecoming Court.
His accomplishments include a I rating in state speech for four years; a second-place finish at state E-sports; and being on the high honor roll for eight semesters.
When Josiah isn’t busy at school, he likes to play video games and party hardy.
His special high school memory was getting second at state E-sports. On the flip side, his most embarrassing moment was in third grade. While reaching for ketchup, he broke his front tooth.
He feels his class is special because everyone knows each other and gets along … sometimes. Josiah’s advice to the underclassmen is “don’t stop trying for anything and wear deodorant (it works.)”
Josiah gives a special nod to Taven Jewett and Dillon Coffin because they changed him into the person he is today.
His plans after graduation are to attend SCC majoring in the accounting transfer program and eventually attending the University of Iowa.
Tiger Nation hates to see him go, but knows Josiah will make everyone proud!
