Apr. 4, 2024 12:00 am
Lanie Szewczyk was born on a wintry Jan. 28, 2006. Her parents are mom Sheri Szewczyk and stepdad Ryan Francis. She has a brother, Tyler, age 10, and her doting grandparents Ken and Lynn Szewczyk.
Lanie has been part of the Class of 2024 since the beginning. She has been NHS president. She has participated in group and individual speech, the plays, the musicals, and band and choir.
She has been rewarded with state speech performances all four-years, which she always looks forward to, especially with friends. She has participated in state esports, specifically Smite 3ed. and Smash Brothers, getting runner-up. Lanie has also been a member of honor choirs and honor bands.
In her spare time, her hobbies and interests are art, gaming, and the theater.
Her proudest moment was being able to walk onto the stage for the first time and perform in front of her peers. Lanie’s most embarrassing moment was also on the stage: She forgot her lines in the play and skipped a lot of it.
She has several people that made her list of special people. They include:
- Mom Sheri — Without her help Lanie would not have gotten through her hard times.
- Abby Szewczyk — She was always there when Lanie needed to talk.
- All of her friends — She can be herself and not worry about what they will say.
Lanie says about her class, “ We are a very small class; we are involved in each other’s lives.” Her sage advice to the underclassmen is to not fall behind, keep up on everything, and do your best to succeed.
Her future plans are to get her BSN through SCC’s 3 + 1 program.
Tiger Nation will miss Lanie and wishes her the best as she begins the next chapter of her life story.
