Senior Spotlight: Michael Raines
Mar. 28, 2024 12:00 am
Michael Raines, nicknamed Mikey, was born to Mike and April Raines on Nov. 4, 2005. He is the middle brother with Cameron, 22, and Riley, 15. His grandparents are Cathy and Glen Miller, and Connie and the late Darrell Terrence.
As he puts it, Michael has been a member of the Class of 2024 “since day one.”
In high school, he has participated in baseball, football, wrestling, and golf. An outstanding wrestler, he was a state qualifier and a member of the 100 win club. He was the winner of his weight class at the Jeremy Fulk Classic. He was also a member of the 2023 Homecoming Court.
When he’s not busy at school, you will find Michael hunting or playing sports.
Michael’s most special memory is winning the State baseball championship his sophomore year. His most disappointing situation was not going out for wrestling his sophomore year.
He singled out his mom, April, as the person he’d like to recognize. Michael explains, ”She has always been there for me and has supported me all the way through school. She is the best mom I could ever ask for.”
For Michael, his class is special because they have ‘chemistry’.” His advice to the underclassmen is to never take anything for granted and have fun while you’re here because it’s only once and it’ll be over before you know it.
As he looks forward to graduation, he plans to attend Kirkwood and major in construction management and get his welding certificate.
Tiger Nation wishes you the best as you leave NLHS. Go get ‘em Mikey!
