On Sept. 19, 2006, Shaylee Hart was born to Jake and Amanda Brothersen. She is big sister to Bo (9) and Leah (5). Her grandparents were thrilled with this beautiful baby girl. They include Randy and Marla Pence, Jim Brothersen, Tom and Debbie Jacobsmeier, Kathi Mertens, and Mike and Niki Mertens.
Shaylee joined the New London Class of 2025 on day one. Since being in high school, she has participated in softball and volleyball. She was part of the M Power U Leadership Program. She was also a member of the 2024 Homecoming Court.
She is an honor roll student and earned second team all-conference honors in softball her sophomore year.
When not at school, one might find Shaylee playing softball or four-wheeling or snowmobiling with her family. She also likes to hang out with her friends or listen to music.
Her most special memories are mentoring Mrs. Schmidt’s first grade class her sophomore year. Her most embarrassing moment came on the softball field. It was her junior year and the Tigers were playing Holy Trinity. Shaylee continues, “I tripped over my own feet, still caught the ball, and as far as anyone is concerned, I meant to dive.”
When the subject of her class comes up, Shaylee thinks that since so many started together, their specialness comes from knowing each other so well. Her advice to the underclassmen is that high school is over before you know it, so make the best of it.
Her most special person is her mom, Amanda. She says, “My mom has always been by my side. She has helped me through every struggle throughout my career. My dad Jake has always had high expectations for me and pushed me to do the best and nothing less. I continue to be thankful for those expectations.”
While looking forward to the softball season, Shaylee knows her life next school year will be quite different. She plans to start at SCC and major in elementary education.
Tiger Nation wishes Shaylee all the best as she leaves NLHS. She will be missed!
