Golf
Monday, May 12 was the SEISC girls golf conference met. Emma Busby was the top golfer for the Tigers, finishing with the 5th best score of the course, a 92. She was the lone Tiger on the All-SEISC First team. Stevey Wintermeyer helped New London finish in 4th place shooting a 95, the 8th best score of the day. That secured her Second team honors.
The boys’ golf team played in the 1A qualifier for the Wapello district on Wednesday, May 14. New London was fourth with a 390. Sullivan Barron led the Tigers with a 90, while Archer Bonnesen had a 96, Memphis Watson had a 99, Israel Lemley had a 105 and Riley Raines had a 117.
Soccer
On Tuesday at the SEISC tournament quarterfinal match between Central Lee and Danville - NL, Max Jones, the Central Lee goalkeeper, made a big save on a breakaway by the Bears’ Colin Pealer to keep the match tied. He then came up with a save in penalty kicks as the Hawks squeezed out a hard-fought 2-1 win at Tackleson Field.
Danville-New London fell to 4-7-1.
