The New London Community is familiar with the Spring Community Day when the school district helps local citizens with household and yard projects, but too often the work that continues throughout the school year is overlooked. The Student Council continues helping with community projects throughout the school year. They are a valuable resource. They also make the work enjoyable and fun.
The Holiday Stroll is right around the corner. Student Council volunteers are busy painting the inside and laying a rolled vinyl floor. The visit from Santa is one of the key activities at the Stroll. The Santa House was constructed a few years ago and is parked on the lot near Krieger’s. Sponsors and donations are needed for its maintenance. Heatilator donated a fireplace. The fireplace needs someone to make a mantle to go over the fireplace. Santa’s chair needs new upholstery. The doors and windows need tender loving care and some weatherproofing. The Stroll is just six weeks away — Saturday, December 9.
The Little Shoppers Christmas Event is scheduled for Saturday, December 2. Donations are needed. This event gives Clark Elementary students a chance to purchase Christmas gifts for their loved ones. The New London Holiday Stroll Facebook page has a list of suggestions. Gently used and new items for men, women and children of all ages are needed. Look through your jewelry boxes and little treasures. Practical items are also in great demand. In addition to the shopping, Santa’s elves will be at Clark Elementary School to assist students In making their selections. Gift wrapping is also available. Items can be dropped off at Lorber Insurance at any time. Call Chelsea Boecker 319.931.6962 with any questions and to offer assistance. Everyone’s help makes New London’s Holiday Stroll one of the best activities in Southeast Iowa.
