The regular meeting of the New London Utility trustees was April 3, 2025. With all members present, they approved the agenda, the consent agenda, and no one addressed the trustees in open forum.
The treasurer, Kasi Howard, informed the trustees that the RPGI (Resale Power Group of Iowa will be sending the utility a reserve refund check soon. Chairman Heater remarked that there is a lot going on concerning RPGI concerning legislation, etc.
The utility foreman reported to the trustees about what was accomplished in his report. He included pole replacement, tree trimming, underground electric repair, and several other items. He was pleased with the repairs to the 2006 International 4300 Altec aerial truck; it is running great. He also made a trip to Wisconsin to look at an aerial truck that they are considering purchasing; he was impressed.
In old business, the trustees took the following actions:
- After hearing from Matt Walker with French Reneker Associates about what GIS mapping would cost and its benefits, they approved the engineering service agreement to complete the GIS mapping of the water mains/services to not exceed $18,500.
- After a discussion about purchasing a new Terex brand 55’ aerial truck and whether they should keep or sell the one they already have - the 4300 Altec - valued at approximately $20,000, the trustees decided to keep it for a backup. They approved purchasing a 2025 Freightliner M2106 4x4 truck with a Terex HR55 boom for $249,900 and to keep the truck they have.
- The trustees approved new software from Edmunds for the utility’s billing, financial, and payroll system for $36,500 for the first year and $15,500 with the price locked in for three years.
The trustees also discussed the Community Service agreement with the New London Junior Baseball Association. They noted that the association hasn’t requested any particular item, but when they do they will take their request into consideration with the use of the Community Service agreement.
The meeting adjourned at 10:47 a.m. The next utility board meeting will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the city office.
