One of the most important traditions in New London is the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. It is held on Thanksgiving Day this year, Nov. 28 from 11:30 a.m. — 1 p.m.
This dinner organized and hosted by Marcus and Annie Powell is free. Meals are served in the Clark Cafeteria for those who are able to travel. Visiting with friends and making new acquaintances are an important part of this dinner. Volunteers are also available to deliver Thanksgiving dinners to homes of those unable to travel.
The menu is a traditional Thanksgiving dinner: turkey mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, stuffing, rolls, and dessert. Marcus and Annie need all the help they can get. Those wanting to donate rolls or desserts can contact Annie at 319-457-0110. Call or text her. They accept cash donations. Cash or checks made out to Annie Powell or Venmo at @newlondonthanksgiving are welcome. Rolls or desserts can be dropped off at the Clark cafeteria on Thanksgiving Day. Home deliveries on Thanksgiving Day must be called or texted to Annie by Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.
